did I mention that he's a cowboys fan?

I often talk about how wonderful my husband is.. and don't get me wrong, he IS wonderful.. but he sure isn't perfect. One of his flaws that I have to deal with on a daily basis is that....

He's a Dallas Cowboy's fan.
Yea. I know.

The thing is, I can't really hold it against him. We were both born and raised in Houston, Texas. We love the Houston Texans but neither one of us consider them our primary NFL team. It's a long story and I won't go into details, but Jared loves the Cowboys and I love the Steelers. With a family full of Houstonians, you can imagine the problems that this causes.

If you know anything about Texas, you know that football is a way of life. Football can make or break a friendship. It can tear apart a family. It can cause blood, sweat, and tears. Even if you're not on the field.

Although we cheer for different teams, and sometimes against each other's team, we both respect each other's love for the game. I've never really had any girlfriends who loved football as much as I do, so I enjoy having someone to watch the games with.

We both joined a fantasy football league for the first time this year. I have a feeling that things will get interesting.

Speaking of fantasy football- I really need a name. A good one. I'd like to consider myself pretty clever but for the life of me, I can't seem to think of a good name. Any ideas?

Are you a football fan? Who is your team?

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I usually win. ;)

ten reasons to hate me

I have a few confessions that may or may not make you hate me.. but you love me because I'm honest, right?
So here I go...

I confess that I did not sign in to blogger at all yesterday. (gasp!) I know.. crazy, right? It was one of those days and I just needed a little break.

I confess that I get a little crazy during football season. I even joined a fantasy football league for the first time this season (EEEK!)!! I apologize in advance for all of my curse words, rants, bad moods, and lack of communication on Sundays for the next few months.
Excuse the "and and".. apparently the person who made this did it while watching a football game.
I confess that although I am from Texas, love Texas football, and AM a fan of Texas football teams, I love my Steelers. Shocker, I know. This has caused quite an uproar among family and friends. The story of how this happened is long.. so I will save it for another time.
Texans, I'm sorry, I still love you, and I still cheer for you during every game.. just not when you're playing the Steelers. :)

I confess that this is what I get to come home to everyday. Try not to be jealous.

I confess that I'm embarrassingly addicted to Big Brother and that I'm really disappointed with this season so far. Most of the players annoy me and there's hardly any big game moves (except for evicting Janelle of course).

I confess that I'm super awkward in front of a camera and that my camera sucks. Proof here.

I confess that this was one of my most viewed posts this week which is really funny to me considering my blog is the LAST place anyone should go to for kitchen advice.

I confess that Jared and I can't decide what to do for dinner tonight which somehow lead to us deciding to go to a wine tasting. And we still aren't sure what's for dinner.

I confess that I bite my fingernails..and sometimes the skin around them.. and it's really gross.. but I can't stop. Sorry.

I confess that I seem to have the blogging blues lately.. and not just the blogging blues, but real life blues too. I haven't been "writing" a lot on here.. or not as much as I'd like to at least. I have a TON of drafts sitting in my blogger account but I just can't seem to finish any of them. I promise I'm working on this!

Do you hate me yet? If you do, I hope you let me make it up to you!
I'll start by giving you a heads up about the awesome giveaways going on here:

Because Shanna Said So
Glam Hungry Mom
The Tiny Heart
My Favorite Finds

Oh and I may or may not be giving away lots of amazing stuff here on Monday.
You're welcome.

a case of the blues

Clockwise from top right: Milly bucket bag | BaubleBar Nautical Drops | ASOS Skater Dress | ASOS Denim Dress | ASOS Babydoll Dress | BaubleBar Blue Brick Bracelet | MyJewelryBox.com Sapphire Ring
SHOP THIS LOOK:

I've been so into blue lately.. all shades of it! Maybe it's being around the ocean so much.. or maybe it's just because it's pretty. There's something about the color blue that always feels classy and polished to me. It's not dull but not an "in your face" kind of color either. Plus, I really think it looks great on all skin tones.
I've been eyeing the Chevron Denim Dress from ASOS for over a week now.. It looks so chic and I think I'd be able to dress it up or down. I've also been dying for some sapphire to add to my jewelry collection and MyJewelryBox.com has killer prices. I think I'll add that to my wishlist! :) And what about that Blue Ostrich bag from Milly?! It is GORGEOUS!

Ok.. I'll stop now before I get carried away. Which one is your favorite? What color are you crushing on right now?

lace + peplum [the messy project]

The Messy Project

I am SO excited to FINALLY reveal The Messy Project!

What is The Messy Project?
The Messy Project was created by Kelly @ Messy Dirty Hair. It's a genius idea in which 5 girls get the exact same piece of clothing and make it their own.

"I wanted to find a fun way to interact with other bloggers incorporating fashion help. Something to convey who we are. To show our style. To put our creative minds to work. To express our inner fashionista. To show people the different ways to style an item depending on your body type and you. So The Messy Project was born." - Kelly @ Messy Dirty Hair

The Deal:
1 top
5 girls
5 different looks
1 major blog post day

Amazing, right?? I am lucky enough to be a part of The Messy Project this month! I signed up over a month ago and had been anxiously waiting for my package from Kelly to arrive so I could see what we were workin' with! As soon as I received it, I was thrilled! I instantly loved the top and loved that it wasn't something I would have normally picked out for myself. So here's how I styled it..

Top: Forever 21 (sold out) | Jeggings: Forever 21 | Sunglasses: Kate Spade (similar) | Earrings: gifted | Necklace: Jewelmint | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: Tory Burch and LinzGutz | Shoes: Tory Burch
SHOP THIS LOOK!:

Ok let's start by saying that this is my first official "outfit post", I'm a bit awkward in front of the camera, and  I KNOW MY CAMERA SUCKS. But like I said here, hopefully I will be getting a new one soon! :) Oh and did you notice that Duke made an appearance in a few photos? He's such a camera hog. :)
For the most part, I'm a "safe" dresser. I don't take too many risks but, believe it or not, this peplum shirt felt like a risk to me. I am always so paranoid that these type of shirt will make me look fat. It wasn't too flattering in some pictures, but I really liked wearing it the majority of the time. I wore a navy cami underneath the top. I like to wear a longer layer underneath because it makes me feel slimmer and more comfortable. Plus, the navy blended in with the jeggings and the top was sheer anyway.
I paired it with Tory Burch wedges and chic arm candy for a preppy classic look. I picked the necklace to add a bit of an edge.
So what do you think? Would you where this top?
I'm thinking about searching for a pair of black leather shorts or pants to pair with this lace peplum top.

Check out how the other girls styled it!

And the brains behind it all... Messy Dirty Hair!
